Suzanne (Canner) Hume, a psychotherapist and member of the American Art Therapy Association, died Saturday at her home in Rockport of pancreatic cancer. She was 42. Mrs. Hume was born in Boston, but grew up in Newton and lived in Rockport for the past 17 years. She graduated from Newton South High School in 1968 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Radcliffe College in 1972.


Mrs. Hume received her Master's degree in education from Lesley College in Cambridge, did post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Institute of Psychotherapy and was pursuing a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif.


She leaves her husband, Edward Hume of Rockport; her mother, Estelle (Berkowitz) Canner of Newton; a daughter, Erika Leslie Hume of Rockport; two stepsons, Christopher Hume of Los Angeles and Brian Hume of Boston; and her brother, Lawrence C. Canner of Baltimore.


Memorial services will be held in The First Universalist Church, 4 Cleaves St., Rockport, tomorrow at 1 p.m. A private burial will be officiated by Cantor Murray Simon.
