Karon - Kaner Reunion 2009

August 7, 8 & 9

St. Louis Park and Plymouth, Minnesota

Friday, August 7:  The weekend begins with a "Meet and Greet" at Beth El Synagogue, 5224 W 26 St., St Louis Park. The family dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m.   The Spirit of Asia, kosher caterers for the synagogue, will be catering a delicious buffet-style Asian dinner for our group.  Cost of the dinner is $28 per person.  At 8 p.m. until about 9 p.m., a special Shabbat musical service will be held.

Saturday, August 8:  Our reunion continues at the Creekside Cafe' in the Radisson Plymouth, 3131 Campus Drive, at about 5:30 p.m. for a Saturday dinner event.  The restaurant features an extensive buffet, with soup, salad fixings, cold salad dishes, several hot entrees-including chicken, fish and vegetarian- as well as side dishes and a variety of desserts.  The price for this meal will be $25 - $30, including tax and gratuity.  The price differential is dependent upon whether one decides to have the buffet including the prime rib option ($3 extra) and including the beverage option ($2 extra).  Meals for children, ages 4 through 12, are $10 to $15, also depending upon the buffet options that are chosen.  There is no charge for children under 4 years of age.  The restaurant charges will be collected that evening from each table, rather than ahead of time.  If anyone would like to bring old photos, scrapbooks or other memorabilia, please do so.  A table will be available for displaying your items.

Sunday, August 9:  Our reunion continue on Sunday at the Sabes Jewish Community Center, 4330 Cedar Lake Road S., St Louis Park, for a kosher picnic lunch, held outdoors, beyond the far end of the building (east of the last parking lot), at the Sam London Field.  We are hoping for a sunny day, but there will be a large tent on these grounds, regardless of the weather predictions.  (We are also just a few feet away from the refuge afforded by the JCC building, of course!)  Ken Nelson, the kosher chef at the JCC, will be catering a picnic lunch of kosher hamburgers and hot dogs, grilled on his kosher grill, from about 11:30 until about 1:30 p.m.  Other traditional picnic foods - coleslaw, chips, vegetarian baked beans, watermelon, etc., will also be included.  Price for the picnic is $12 for adults and $9 for children.  Picnic tables and chairs are available, but if any Twin Cities attendees wish to bring extra lawn chairs along with them, feel free!  A soccer field, softball field, jungle gym, basketball hoop, and a large space for Frisbee are all available if anyone finds themselves in the mood for outdoor sports activities.  Of course, schmoozing is also a good activity!  Inside the JCC, the Jewish Historical Society office will be open for us part of the day (hours to yet be determined) for you to use their computers to research family history.
