Charles L. Zalk, age 86, of Minneapolis, originally from Duluth, passed away Nov. 7, 2010. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Cleo; sons, David, Stephen and Douglas (Madison); grandchildren, Cody, Erica and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lylian Zalk; sister, Marjorie Z. Weisman; and brother, Morton L. Zalk. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II as an officer aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Case in the South Pacific, and was the founder and longtime owner of Zalk Steel & Supply Co., Minneapolis. Funeral service TUESDAY, 1 P.M., TEMPLE ISRAEL MEMORIAL PARK, 42nd St. & Third Ave. S., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Camp Nebagamon Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 331, East Troy, WI 53120 (to support non-profit camps serving disadvantaged children), Wilderness Inquiry, 808 14th Ave. SE, Minneapolis 55414 or donor's favorite charity. Immediately following the service the family will greet friends at The Carlyle, 100 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis.
