Sagen, Earl "Bud" LA JOLLA -- Earl "Bud" Sagen of Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of La Jolla and Eveleth, Minn., passed away peacefully on July 13, 2013. He was born in Eveleth, Minn., on October 12, 1925 to Lester and Anna Sagen. Bud graduated from Eveleth High School and attended the University of Minnesota. A WWII Veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater. Bud married the love of his life, Barbara Goodman on August 6, 1950 in Virginia, Minn. He loved sharing his interests of travel and sports with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bud owned and operated Sagen's Tradition House an Ethan Allen Furniture Gallery with locations in Eveleth, Minn., and Duluth, Minn. In 1980, Bud and Barb moved to La Jolla, Calif. He is survived by his wife, Barb; three children, Larry (Carol) Sagen of Seattle, Judy Sagen Atherton (Michael) of Apple Valley Minn., and Steven, (Phyllis) Sagen of San Diego; three grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and many dear friends that he and Barb made in their 30 some years in San Diego. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters. Funeral services were held on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at Mt. Zion Temple, St. Paul, Minn. Inurnment took place at Fort Snelling, Minnesota National Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Friends of B'Nai Abraham Synagogue, Virginia, Minn.
