Deceased Name: Ann Marie Kohn
Ann Marie Kohn, 84, Kenwood Avenue, died Friday, March 22, 1996, in her home.
She was born in Duluth, where she grew up and graduated from Central High School in 1928. She graduated from Duluth State Teachers College in 1930. She taught at Prairie Lake (Minn.) Elementary School for two years. In 1935, she married Donald L. Kohn in Floodwood.
Mrs. Kohn taught at the Clover Valley School in the 1950s. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1964 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She then taught at Homecroft Elementary School for 15 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of the Duluth Teachers Association, New Agers Group, and the Homesteaders.
Her parents were Adolf and Marie Arntsen Solem. Her husband, Donald, died May 1, 1972. She is survived by three sons, Leon D. of Duluth, Brian of Albuquerque, N.M., and Steven of Chapel Hill, N.C.; three sisters, Karen Grussendorf of Setka, Alaska, Emily Clasby of Bolivar, Mo., and Karlie Jahnke of Minneapolis; three brothers, Lud Solem and Edwin Solem, both of Duluth, and Jens Solem of Azuza, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday in Kenwood Lutheran Church in Duluth. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in Normanna Cemetery in Normanna Township. Memorials in her memory preferred to Homecroft School Media and Technical Center, c/o Mary Sedin, 4784 Howard Gnesen Road, Duluth MN 55803. Arrangements are by Johnson Mortuary in Duluth.
